How do you ensure your brand stands out at a major international
property conference, with an attendance of more than 25,000?
Property advisors PCM decided the best way was to hire a Segway from
Segway North. Fully branded with the company's new logo, their rider
spent the duration of the event drawing admiring glances as he cruised
up and down the promenade, or Croisette, in Cannes on the French
Riviera. The locals see plenty of expensive cars and big yachts here,
but most of them had never seen a Segway before, and it certainly
turned heads.
The Segway North service included shipping the Segway to site, having
first arranged the design of the wheel discs and front panel
containing PCM's new corporate logo. The rider received a full
training and safety package to ensure both rider and machine enjoyed
their stay in the south of France.
With its great environmental credentials, the Segway makes an ideal
platform for promoting a corporate brand and ensuring anyone can make
an impact at a trade event.
Segway's x2 Golf model recognized as New Product of the Year
At last year’s Golf Industry Show, Segway unveiled its x2 Golf model, and at this year’s
show it will be named New Product of the Year by the Association of Private Clubs and
Directors.
The association and BoardRoom Magazine’s Excellence in Achievement Awards
recognize vendors and educators for their impact, achievements and contributions to the
club industry. The awards will be presented at a ceremony on Thursday, Jan. 31.
Unlike golf cars, the Segway x2 Golf can travel on fairways, speeding play, and saving
turf maintenance. It has low-pressure turf tires, a scorecard holder, and a bag carrier that
automatically positions clubs upright when the unit is parked. It features breakthrough
LeanSteer technology that makes the ride intuitive, and a wireless InfoKey controller that
provides added convenience and security.
5 December - SEGWAY WINS TOP GREEN AWARD
Segway are one of the major prize-winners in the International Green Apple Awards 2007 for Environmental Best Practice.
They have been given the National Bronze Award in recognition of their Segway electric transport.
The trophy was presented by top botanist and TV personality Professor David Bellamy, OBE at The House of Commons.
The trophies are awarded annually in recognition of organisations carrying out projects that benefit the environment.
The judges commented “Car travel is of course a very inefficient and misused travel system, but options of public transport, cycling or walking are not often suitable for the majority. The Segway device very neatly bridges the gap between more physical transport options and the convenience of car use, with the added benefit of very low running costs and minimal environmental impact, its potential is massive.”
The award-winning project will be featured in “The Green Book” and the organisation will also be presented with a prestigious Green Heroes Shield in spring next year, during a special prizegiving ceremony.
The Green Apple Awards campaign is run by The Green Organisation, an independent, non-political, non-profit organisation that recognises, rewards and promotes environmental best practice around the world.
Their supporters include the Environment Agency, the Chartered Institution of Wastes Management, the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health and various other professional bodies.
National Organiser Roger Wolens commented: “We had around 750 nominations this year and presented about 80 awards, so they did particularly well to triumph against some very strong competition.” |
